2020 was a difficult year for everyone, and the COVID-19 pandemic meant that many people who were already struggling, were hit the hardest. Generosity and kindness were needed more than ever before. The team at Protectly.co are passionate about using the time, energy and resources that we have to help the community and individuals in need in these difficult times. One of the ways that we frequently provide this help is donations of high-quality, authentic PPE to individuals and organizations.
Recently, we made a donation of 2000 3-ply surgical masks to an existing customer at Protectly, Elizabeth D. Elizabeth originally placed a large order with us, using her own personal money to purchase 250 of our certified authentic KN95 masks. These masks were to be shipped to Missionaries of Charity of New York.
The Missionaries of Charity is a non-profit organization that provides free services to the poor, including drug addicts, the homeless, and patients with AIDS. They run soup kitchens to provide food for the poor and homeless, visit families in need, and provide people with emergency shelter. The founder of Missionaries of Charity stated that the organization works with "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind… all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society.”
In the COVID-19 pandemic, all of these already vulnerable groups are at risk, and need help more than ever. Due to the high demand for PPE causing a shortage, many people who are poor or homeless will be unable to access basic items such as surgical masks that would help them to stay safe and protect themselves against the virus. The people delivering help are also at risk as they are being exposed to many different people and communities, so high-quality PPE is essential to keep everyone safe.
When Elizabeth sent us a message explaining what she was doing, we decided to jump in and help her with her mission. We added 2000 high-quality surgical masks to her order of 250 KN95 masks, to be sent to the sisters who run Missionaries of Charity. The sisters were incredibly happy with the large donation they received. As they help a lot of the homeless population in New York City, the sisters used the masks that Protectly donated to give to the homeless to help them to stay safe, as well as for their own use while doing charity work.
